For most, protesting meets the immediate goal of reducing the feeling of loneliness and mental illness, or otherwise general malaise, while their banks are steadily depleting and no jobs are available, all due to COVID-19.
This is why foreigners also marched into their streets during lockdowns, which the U.S. doesn't even have.
There are far too many people using the death of George Floyd as a scapegoat for their own desires and wants.

After that, protest is artful expression, and it's a mustering of resolve for the true goal of changing laws both national and international. This requires leadership, which, as of yet, has not been pinpointed. Let it be known leadership would necessarily not be a white person, as a white leader will be berated, distrusted, and criticized heavily for speaking while white over an issue that is claimed by too many to be uniquely black.

The wailing of men, and the roars of women,
The squirting of bone, and the strength of skin can be all be heard in wars.
