Some police dramas and procedurals do actually affect how people view police, crime, and forensics, some for the positive and some for the negative. Shows that give a realistic or legally based view, like SVU, can even educate the viewers. Others that focus on drama or glorification of the police tend to do the opposite and viewers learn incorrect information about police, crime, and forensics. There have been multiple studies on the this.
