The Browns are going in on this season, so they are willing to give up a pair of mid-round picks (and get one back) to get a great SS (shoring up their biggest weakness) on an expiring deal who should still have this season and next in him.

The Pioneers aren't exactly playing with house money, but they are doing very well this season and even were in line for a first round bye until last week. Having given up their first three picks last season, the Pioneers are in a good place to roll the dice on a rookie SS and gain back some draft capital that they gave up last season. This also frees up cap space that they can use to sign an injury replacement in the future.
