I heard Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil (I probably got that wrong) was the one to start out with but I never got around to actually really playing it. I think I would like them though as I've gotten pretty into the few shoot em ups I've played (Ikaruga, etc)The games before EoSD (TH6) are on PC-98, so they require an emulator to run and are very dated gameplay-wise (TH4-5 looked decent enough though). I think you'd do perfectly fine if you've played Ikaruga, but just in case, I think the general opinion is that Imperishable Night (TH8) is the easiest of the modern titles. ...
