They're getting rid of it because College Board, the company that manages the SAT, has a yearly revenue of over a billion dollars and they want a piece of that sweet pie. Anyone who thinks that whatever homebrew test the UC system comes up with is going to be better than company whose entire purpose is to refine the same test year after year for almost 100 years now is out of their mind.
