Lemme tell you something.

You remember the Ghost of Christmas Present? Dude had life figured out. Guy's a walking paradox, knows it, and is at peace with it.

You're talking with the guy, and he's a total bro, right? Fun to hang out with, literally got wine in his hand at all times, friendly af. Then oh what the hell is this, he lifts up his robe and holy wtf there are kids under there, starving to death, gray skinned, diseased, staring through your soul knowing that you have and they don't, knowing they've been swept under the rug because nobody wants them, nobody wants to look at them, nobody wants to think about them. And the dude freaking knows it. He is fully aware of it at all times, even aware that it is a statement directly against the man himself, and he's just cool with it. Why? How can he accept this?

Because it's the way things are. Because inequality is always going to be a thing. Because bad stuff happens. Because life isn't fair. Some of those kids never had a chance. Others had but didn't take it. Some had and took it, and then it all came crashing back down again.

Scrooge mostly just didn't know. He doesn't care either, but he doesn't care because he doesn't know. When he met the Ghost of Christmas Present, he was horrified, he was mindblown, he asked questions he had just recently given the answers to because he had no idea what the condition of man really was. And when he head hos own answers repeated back to him, he realized just how ignorant he really was.

But Christmas Present knows. And he cares. He cares enough to hold guys like Scrooge accountable. He cares enough to expose the dark underbelly of the world.

I was going somewhere with that but then I got sidetracked and now rather than rewrite like the whole thing I'm just gonna post it. Sorry, this is completely irrelevant to the discussion.
