The joy of Biden v Trump is going to be a lot of stuff like this. There will be times when they seemingly try to outgaffe each other

Then again, there's something ironic in Democrats thinking they own black voters considering that the Democratic Party itself was pretty big into the whole notion of literally owning black people and ran a pro-slavery candidate against Lincoln during that presidential election.

is he wrong?

Yes, because race shouldn't determine politics

Right? He had one foot out the door, too. Could've said his goodbyes and would've been fine. What a buffoon

Which is a kinda common thing for politicians.

You mean is the guy who has championed policy after policy that has resulted in institutionally authorized disparate racism wrong about being on the side of black people? The guy who voted for the crime bill, against desegregation, and expanded civil asset forfeiture is now all of a sudden someone black people should trust, now that he needs their votes?

To be fair, a lot of the things he voted on happened over 20 years ago. In the case of busing, that was closer to 50 years ago and for some districts there were some pretty substantial logistical issues. I think even the civil forfeiture laws he introduced were over 30 years ago and it was during a time when the parties were trying to outcrazy each other when it came to drug enforcement.
