I don't think it's weird to trust the directors about the allegory for the movie that they made? i mean let's be real most of these dudes have never thought critically about any media they consume people get upset at the idea that a work of art could have a meaning that isn't obvious because they think that anything they themselves didn't pick up on couldn't have really been there. it's very disheartening and honestly seems like it's pushing back against critical thought --- and love comes back around again, it's a carousel, my friend ...
