No clue if this is true because I haven't really watched them, but I remember back in the day the consensus on some of the comic boards I used to hang out on was that both Arrow and Flash tended to start out weak, peaked really hard in their second seasons, and then just sort of spiraled down into being terrible afterwards. After the Vegas shooting they made an episode during that season to make a political statement about guns being bad even for government agencies. Also I really liked the first season of both.
