Sorry about the delay. I did listen to it shortly after it was posted, but I wanted to listen to a few of the covers--The Cadets for being more popular then the original, some 90s cover that tried to modernize it, and Frank Zappa's cover because Zappa--but didn't have time and...sorta forgot to come back to it...sorry.
( Zappa >> Jayhawks > Cadets > 90s band I don't remember the name of; there's something about the increased speed Zappa puts into the chorus I find appealing. It's still obviously doo-wop, but...speed doo-wop or something and it puts it two pegs above the others.)
Either way, song is unique and I appreciated the chance to listen to it.
i nommed this one because you mentioned liking songs with spoken words in the kaf video writeup and this song obviously has spoken interludes. appreciate that you checked out the covers as well (especially zappa's cover for obvious reasons)!
