Yeah this is exactly correct. Which is why I think when this is all over, and masks become less scarce again, people should be encouraged to have them on hand, in their homes, for the next time this happens.

As for the stigma thing, I would definitely say that in America people would give funny looks at people who wore face masks in public or perhaps even be uneasy about it.
