I didn't quite understand it the first time the emotional weight carried in the backstory and eventual closure concerning Nancy's mom. Also, back then I didn't know that the terrorist organization in question was more of a red herring because I remember one of my criticisms being that the plot was all over the place. As it turns out, there was also a character that "returns" which just boggled me back then but now I know which ND game she came from. Now I see why this game is a strong contender in many a fan's top 10.
