also i do feel like this needs to be said but...

while NY has a lot of cases there's a LOT of misinformation on this that's going to be revealed later.
the biggest issue: anybody that thinks NY is out of control or the center of this. it's not. we just test a lot more. a LOT more.

https://www.businessinsider.com/new-york-more-coronavirus-testing-than-the-cdc-any-state-2020-3

US: 111,638
NY: 32,427
NY is responsible for 39% of all US tests.
NY is also capable of testing 10,000 cases a day, significantly more than anyone else; in 4 days we're probably going to be half of all reported positives. for an example, Washington state said a few days ago they're shooting for 1,500/day, just 15% of what we do in a day. while we likely do have more cases than some places due to population and population density, the biggest factor for our numbers is because we can actually test it. this will potentially leave us as the best urban area in a few weeks since we're catching it quicker than anyone else. ideally you wouldn't need these numbers to get people to act but you unfortunately do. state governments will try their best because they know better, it's just down to citizens taking it seriously. which... yeah.

now i'm not gonna complain when we get federal aid, funding, and get FEMA involved because we're ahead of the numbers race but it is going to suck for everyone else who's slower on this: all their real numbers are going to go up, everyone will know they're up, but the confirmation will be slow.
