It was bad sure but a lot more events were and are much worse. We had a Civil war until like 20 years ago as you said(Yugoslav Wars)but fuck them right?Their problem. Or the Syrian Civil war but fuck them too right? I don't see USA intervening there. Guess there is not much to earn there so they stay out of this. Real noble. --- So why we exist?
