But what other choice do I have other than comfort her and change her bandages as much as I can? Just completely leave her so she dies faster? What if it still takes long? She still seems like a fighter. She's not at the point of lethargy yet. But she's clearly in severe distress and her voice is frail and low. I think the emergency place told me to let go because they're probably extremely overwhelmed right now helping people's actual pets. At the end of the day, the kittens are now hitting 14 days, and are the children of a stray when every stray this month is having babies. NY has one of the largest stray populations in the country. And reading more about fading kitten syndrome, it's very common even in healthy kittens.
