Titans will so regret the tannehill deal based on what we've seen. This could be the new fitzpatrick cycle

Well, the main difference is that Tannehill has at least gotten his team to the playoffs in both places he's been, unlike Fitzpatrick. We like to joke about Fitzmagic, but Tannehill is a better QB. He's been a good QB. His main issue has been staying healthy.

And they might regret it, but I don't know what their better options were (get the Brady talk out of here). This is the going rate for a good QB now if you actually believe he's good, and I'm guessing they paid him this much because there was at least one other team out there willing to make him a similar offer. So their options were to probably overpay Tannehill, take their chances on a rookie QB in the draft, go back to Mariota (zero chance), or hope to find a serviceable QB in free agency. As someone who lived through the Vince Young, Jake Locker, and Marcus Mariota years, getting a good QB on a rookie contract isn't as easy as everyone makes it sound...!

that being said Vince and Mariota both led the Titans to the playoffs once too so this could have been a fluke for Tannehill too

they were just in a really weird bind
