The take home is for $15 an hour mind you, but that is a good average for entry level/starter jobs that you can get fresh out of HS in most areas (or reach pretty fast if you start at min wage). Again for areas with rents of $900+ for one bedrooms (which means major cities etc).

If you can't live on $2000 a month, your not trying. I live on $1000, and I'm spending more then I have to (still a good deal). Last place I lived was $200 less a month. I could have lived on $800 or less a month there. I also have a car, pay insurance etc, which is additional expenses not actually needed (but sure are nice).
