I rent a basement for $575 a month, so I have roomates but never see them (cause they are upstairs).

Was just talking to a friend who was like "people in their 20's can't afford to rent their own place anymore".

I literally found him an apartment in the bay area (1 block from bart) for $1000 a month within 2 minutes. It's only 300sq feet mind you, but since min wage there is $15 an hour, you can easily afford it.

Most places where apartments are $900+ have min wages of $13+ at this point which means about $2200 a month take home, or less then 50% needed to rent an apartment, still totally doable.

Not as easy as it was 20 years ago, but doable.
