It also has a big open world that I'd say is more in the vein of Skyrim than BotW but I don't think you played Skyrim so I don't know if I have a good other reference point for you. You have a map and can set markers so what I would do is set one at a place marked as a place of interest, head there, then put a marker down at the next one and continue on.
