Democrats have the population, Republicans have the land. These are just numbers.
There are more *registered Democrats* than *registered Republicans* but neither can win an election on their own if both sides simply vote party line (which they don't).

It is not voter suppression. It is requiring people to supply the identification to prove that they legally can vote. You are not suppressing the vote. You are legally identifying the vote.

Gerrymandering happens on both sides as well.

This for example is the breakdown of the 2016 election.

Party
Democrats
89 Clinton
9 Trump
2 Other
37 total percent of vote

Republicans
7 Clinton
90 Trump
3 Other
33 total percent of vote

Independents
42 Clinton
48 Trump
10 Other
31 percent of vote.

Trump 46%
Clinton 48%

1/3 of the vote pretty much was independents. Democrats don't simply win by trotting out generic Dem.
