I guess it's the idea of you saying they're waiting for Microsoft to "lead the way" being taken as a praise for Microsoft.

Which would be funny since Sony let Microsoft "lead the way" to the disastrous Xbox One E3 conference before dunking on them with memes for an hour that same night.

Phil Spencer already said the box itself doesn't matter for their plans, and I'd bet we're probably gonna see Halo on the Switch in like 2 or 3 years anyways, so the whole console wars thing is gonna just get dumber and dumber.
