Probably because the amount of energy needed for those signals would be absurd, their explanations involve neutron stars. Why would aliens use outdated technology like radio?"radio" is simply a broad range of lower-than-light frequencies of electromagnetic radiation and is useful for its ability to transmit signals through matter due to being larger waves than atoms.
