Lots of things in space emit repeating signals. Doesn't mean it's aliens. But, it's certainly interesting and warrants more investigating.

Its also possible that we are witnessing a binary system containing a massive star and a super-dense stellar core known as a neutron star, according to a study published on arXiv on Wednesday by a separate team that looked at the same data. In that model, the neutron star would emit radio bursts, but those signals would be periodically eclipsed by opaque outflowing winds from its giant companion.

seems like the most plausible explanation imo

Why would aliens use outdated technology like radio?

You have to think about the scales involved...

Why would aliens use radio 11 billion years ago (not to scale, I don't know the specific distances)

The thing that is different about this is it does it every 16 days since 2018. Which is different then usual repeatings.

They gave 3 explanations, none of them involve aliens. Probably because the amount of energy needed for those signals would be absurd, their explanations involve neutron stars.

No question that they went for the clicks, but they didn't twist it beyond the title.

"radio" is simply a broad range of lower-than-light frequencies of electromagnetic radiation and is useful for its ability to transmit signals through matter due to being larger waves than atoms. It's not so much technology as it is a fundamental property of the universe.

It's funny that we discover "aliems" every six months these days, though.
