The Irony is that the TARDIS would have told The Doctor where they were the entire time Ehh, I can almost forgive that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mysterious_Planet ...but at least in that case, they at least tried to justify it by implying the planet (and the entire solar system) had been moved out of its natural orbit and relocated somewhere else. Though that's also an implicit negative of its own - it's indicative that they're so lacking in ideas that they're going back to the old series to steal premises.
