She didn't hold her first real government post until winning her senate seat. By contrast, Bernie Sanders is pretty much a welfare queen who has only ever relied on the government for employment. Bernie Sanders was never going to win and -- in all honesty -- the DNC was morally obligated to favor an actual Democrat over a last minute registration who didn't want to run undeclared. However, Hillary was always going to win and to believe otherwise is beyond clueless. Contrary to what Bernie claimed, she was the inevitable candidate... then... well, spoilers! streamofthesky posted... She only had a huge lead due to the massive swath of super delegates who pledged for her early (which they shouldn't be able to do, basically skews the process from the start). If Bernie actually won the normal delegate count, I doubt those super delegates would've had the nerve to override the will of the voters and toss it to Hillary anyway. He ceded the race after she had a definitive lead in (non-super) delegates.
