Literally the first thing my auto insurance agent told me when I got my very first policy...

"Don't ever apologize, never say you did something wrong, I don't care if you t-boned a parked car, never admit fault"
Years ago when I rear-ended someone. Besides being in shock over what happened I wanted to apologize for wasting his time and dealing with the hassle of the insurances. Fortunately I was too dumbfounded to say anyway.

it's just a bad idea for legal/insurance reasons.
Can you please elaborate on why? I did a quick look through Google and most results states admitting fault legally makes you responsible and your own insurance company might throw you to the wolves instead of coming to some agreement with the other person's insurance.

I'm simply baffled at how can my own insurance possibly pushback against the other insurance when certain accidents is obvious of who is at fault.
