Ffs the person cut into my lane tried saying I rear ended her. Theres zero damage on my front bumper. All the damage shows she side swiped my front left panel. All cause she had to exit and didnt look before turning. /rant

I had nothing but time in traffic. We were going 50-60mph. When ya commute enough ya realize youre better off sitting in one lane and waiting it out. Either way the girls claim was denied based on my statement matching the damages.

Dunno. The guy with zero damage to his front bumper and general common sense? If shes got damage on his right rear and front left wheel only on mine. Fact she had to exit on that street was probably a coincidence. /s

Fair. But they cant seriously think no one would fact check or check their details. Youd think that dice roll would be embarrassing af when caught. She was using Mercury insurance. Shouldve been a red flag.

I can see that, Some asshat slammed into me at the drive through of a Whataburger we stayed there for a solid 2 hours no cops came, since he didn't have insurance his dad brought me $1000 bucks cash to which I didn't mind for my very minimal damage to my rear bumper.

A lot of cities won't even send law enforcement out unless there are injuries or the accident is bad enough that you can't get your vehicles out of the street. Which really sucks because having a police report describing the accident can go a long way to helping settle these things.

It's an incident, not an emergency. In the UK we have 101 that calls the nearest department for non-emergency situations.

We don't have any like that in the US. At least, I haven't heard of it. And my mom's a cop. So, Idk... The closest we have is the non emergency number...

Zangulus posted...
You use the non emergency line. Not 911.

And you can call that number. But in my experience, they won't ever come when calling that number. Or will be hours. Also, it depends on how bad the accident is. And how busy the city is. When I had my accident, wejust called 911, explained what happen, and they sent someone over. They never said anything like call the non-emergency line (Which I have used before for questions) or anything. So, it was probably legally acceptable...

Years ago when I rear-ended someone. Besides being in shock over what happened I wanted to apologize for wasting his time and dealing with the hassle of the insurances. Fortunately I was too dumbfounded to say anyway.

Kungfu Kenobi posted...

Can you please elaborate on why? I did a quick look through Google and most results states admitting fault legally makes you responsible and your own insurance company might throw you to the wolves instead of coming to some agreement with the other person's insurance.

I'm simply baffled at how can my own insurance possibly pushback against the other insurance when certain accidents is obvious of who is at fault.

Last accident I was in, I fessed up; pulling onto a 4-lane road, woman ahead of me had started to go so I did too, then as I was checking left left again to make sure no one was coming, she stopped for no reason and I slammed into the back of her. 3K to my car, $200 to her Jeep (Accord vs Jeep, Jeep wins). I didn't end up getting any points on my license, so whatever I told the cops must have been balanced by what she told them.

Eh, she was a little old grandmother type woman, so even though I was pissed at her (I still have NO idea why she stopped), and pissed at myself for fucking up and knowing I'd have to use everything I'd made as a bonus that year for the repairs (which I did), I didn't want to compound the error.

Oh, I sitll find myself getting angry with her. As I said, I had to spend my entire yearly bonus on car repairs (I literally need my car to get to work, my commute is 30 miles round trip), not only that, but it was the year they changed our PTO system and we got paid for all the accrued time we had. I had some pretty decent investment plans for that $3K that would have benefitted me greatly over time. But I know the drivers in that city are all idiots, and I shouldn't have assumed she would keep going. A tough lesson to learn.
