Best Film

10 years of movies to choose from made for a good enough reason to have this category in play.

Honourable mentions:

No Game No Life Zero, Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion, Fate/Stay Night: Heavens Feel II. Lost Butterfly.

Although some Ghibli & Hosoda films got a few votes here and there, in general they were overlooked for movies from popular shows. However that said, our big three pulled ahead from the rest of the pack and itll come as no surprise what the top 3 was. The only thing that mattered was the order.

3rd Place: A Silent Voice

Winner: Your Name

All three were widely praised by the anime community, in the end Your Name was considered the best anime film of the decade by B8. A story of a city boy and a country girl swapping bodies leading to a touching romance as the two leads discover more about the person they are living as.
Oh and it didnt hurt to have a killer soundtrack from radwimps.
Your Name is also one of the very few recent anime films that was able to cross into the mainstream in a way thats usually reserved for Ghibli films.
The moderate international success carried over, as the next Makoto Shinkai project, Weathering With You has also gone on to fair pretty well at the box office.

As for the other top placing films, both are Kyoto Animation projects one a manga adaptation, while the other covers a major arc of the hugely popular Haruhi-series. These films kinda just showcased KyoAnis chops outside of the TV series format theyre better known for.

I would definitely recommend anyone with a passing interest in anime to watch all 3, though youll want to watch the Haruhi series before tackling Disappearance.
