MO2 is fantastic. NMM is no longer being updated in lieu of Vortex, and Vortex doesn't offer anything that MO2 can't already do. You also need to be running FO4Edit to check for conflicts after installing and sorting your mods, if you're not already.

And on the topic of optimization, the gamebryo engine is just garbage. The engine simply cannot handle shadows properly, it seems no matter the rig. I had to turn the distance down to medium on a 2700x and GTX1080, just to maintain a decent framerate in the downtown area. The sooner Bethesda dumps the gamebryo engine, the better. They've been using it since, what, Morrowind? I think it's time for something new.
