Honestly I still don't quite get demisexuals, assuming they're indeed legit. Like how would you really know? Do they just go through life thinking they're asexual until they meet someone they form that emotional bond with? How strong is this bond in question? Do they always feel something towards their close friends?

It seems unnaturally specific to me. But I fully admit I'm speaking from ignorance here.

I'm still attracted to overtly sexual characteristics like genitals, and I still have a huge sex drive. But I don't look a person and think about wanting sexual relations of any sort unless I feel a certain level of trust and comfort around them, a strong personal bond. So when people ask me if a girl/guy is hot, I really can't give them much of a response, because no one ever looks hot to me. But I am still strongly attracted to the body of someone I'm in love with even if it's not "hot" in the traditional sense.

This doesn't seem to apply to purely fictional/fantastic characters, though. It's only real people where I just don't see them in any sexual light at first. I dunno if there are different types of this or if experiences differ, though. The idea that it's identified as it's own thing is relatively new to me.

The connection I'm referring to is basically feeling free to open up to someone and express my thoughts and emotions freely to them, as well as feeling wanted and desired by them.
