I thought that too. He could have easily discredited her, and worse, had her locked away in an institution. He had the power and influence, nobody was going to side with a low level secretary who could just be looking for attention or a pay day.

I lean more toward the movie being fake or mostly fake since the events of the movie lead to Joker creating Batman instead of the other way around. That's probably like his ultimate power fantasy. But the whole city embracing the clown revolution, him being able to come and go unabated at the theater and asylum, and other things.. don't seem very realistic. He could have really killed those people though.

He escapes arkham all the time so that i bought. Also movie was set in the 80s so on the theatre front security wasnt what it is today.
