The monsters, while well-designed and creepy, could have stood with some more Cthulhu style abilities, or at least what I presume they were implying was Cthulhu could have done some sort of mindpowered style damage. Though with the length of the film, it wasn't really possible. Stewart shined here I think channeling her inner Weaver.
