Turns out men don't usually even ask for custody. When they do ask they have about a 50% chance of winning like you expect. Also nobody automatically assumes the man pays alimony. It's always from the higher earner to the lower earner with a custody factor involved. For example if someone makes only a little more money and has custody of the children they might both get child support and not have to pay alimony.
