Anyway, it seems this task is part of the Hans Capon add-on, which I didn't know at first. Infiltrated the bandit camp, pickpocketed some key, and stole the dice tourney winnings without bothering with anything else. That doesn't technically solve the mission, though, so I guess I'll make a cursory effort and lose the stuff.
