I love the trumpets and bongo-like drums driving the rhythm. Vocals kinda weird but I can see them growing on me. Feels like it fits the Katamari Damacy aesthetic really well, filling you with a carefree bounce to go explore the wondrous world out there. Score: 792 I've been missing out, I always dismissed this as a meme and never took the time to give it a proper listen! I guess a lot of songs become memes precisely because they are good. It's got a real solid melody in the high synths and cool drum fills as well. I remember liking the Smash Ultimate remix during BOST, so that might be a version with modern instruments that I'd actually enjoy a lot. ZaziGuado posted... The electric guitars also sound washed-out, this might just be a low-quality upload or something. Solo violin is always nice, but sounds a little fake in this one. Are all the instruments just standard orchestral library samples and that's why it sounds low quality?!? NFUN posted... The in-and-out synths do a good job of making me think of floating up and down on the waves. I do think it's at its strongest from 1:48 until the loop, the synths in the middle sections don't quite fit with the other layers and the piano melody feels too simple. The boss themes are probably better for me - wait, is Crabulon the boss of this stage?! (update: apparently it only has the Giant Clam miniboss which doesn't get a theme) pyresword posted... The two violins or whatever do sound nice together, especially when one goes up high at 1:27. Score: 839 I don't know what that was in the middle there, but this is a pretty awesome song to battle to! Choirs and electric guitar are always welcome, and I really like when the solo vocal line comes in. Big goosebump-worthy moments.
