It's a fucking mobile game. You don't need to agonize this much. Stop playing for a few weeks or a month then check back later, which is what a lot of players do.

As a true blue Pokemaniac, I just suffer through the bugs until they fix things. The only game-killer is something that blocks me from logging in.
