I think I got 1001 a bit after 10:05 PM, so submissions are now closed as of pyresword's post. Not sure if I'll get through the rest of the songs tonight, I'm getting a bit tired and it feels like my write-ups aren't as good now. In any case, I'll come back with a ranking of my top 10 after doing some re-listening and re-rating later this week!

I like this song, right up until the "flute" kicks in:
https://youtu.be/ome6XI_KuIw
cool video thumbnail. "cyberpunk fringe"! huh, I actually like this flute part.
Score: 613
I think the flute adds a nice air of mystery. I didn't know what to make of this at first, but it made sense when I re-read the song title. Cyberpunk with synths and electric guitar is definitely an aesthetic I like, but the sounds used here just don't do the song justice. I wouldn't mind listening to a modernized remix of this.

Let's give the Genesis version some love:

what the heck the genesis game has a completely different cover. good start but those high synths might give me a headache. that sounded like a loop point
Score: 588
The high twangy synths are kind of unpleasant, but the stuff in the bass I do like. Again get a mysterious vibe from this, but it's not quite as musically interesting as the previous track.

And one from Legend of Mana, for when I'm in a bad mood:

oh this is cool, I'm guessing this is newer than secret of mana. cool oriental sounds. oh hey it's yoko shimomura! thumbnail tricked me into imagining this as a forest or jungle, apparently it's a city.
Score: 742
Super atmospheric, real soundscape-like. Really cool how it plays with the texture and swells in each section. Another song that makes me lose track of time. Feels like I'm exploring some ancient ruins in the jungle.

Oh boy I can post a licenced and a CD-i song I found.

Planet 51 The Game - Looking for the Comet
https://youtu.be/2ZPIHlCgJqs
oh wasn't this a movie that came out recent-ishly? (update: whoops it's from 2009) very nice acoustic guitar. ok awkward loop, wait where's the acoustic guitar, it wasn't a loop?! ok I see they added drums and stuff in the second half
Score: 711
Definitely liked that first half better, the high electric guitar they replaced it with in the second half just sounded awkward. Still can't believe the acoustic only gets that one solo!!! Definitely fits the title, it feels very magical and even a bit emotional at times. Some of the instruments just don't quite fit together. I'm guessing this is just two variations on the same song that play at different sub-sections of the same part of the game.

Dimo's Quest - The Hardest Levels
https://youtu.be/gGl_Ug-Fc6U
(Please note: I cannot find a regular length version on youtube, so you will have to do with an extended version. The song ends at ~3:42)
why is this crazy bus okay there we go. groovy! definitely an example of an older-sounding song that I like. loving what I think is a high saw synth combined with the trumpet things. there's choir and arps too!
Score: 783
This has got such a great retro aesthetic! The older-sounding synths are really used in a way that I like and it makes for a song with good energy and positive vibes. If this is the score for "The Hardest Levels," I think it would affect me in the same way as Celeste tracks where they sound so encouraging that I'm pushed to move forward despite all the deaths I've gone through. Thank you CD-i, very cool!
