Honestly, the simple answer is just to stop, And over time you'll lose the craving for them.

Penn Gellet(not sure how to spell his name) of Penn and Teller did a kinda click baity video in titled "how I lost ___ pounds eating what I want" he explains how he talked to his doctor about it decided on eating whole potatoes with nothing added for two weeks. If he was hungry he would eat a roasted potato. Then after two weeks he added more vegetables, and now that he doesnt eat sweets or fatty foods for a period of time he just doesnt crave them since it is out of his eating "habit". Thus the title of the video, how he lost so much weight eating what he "wants"

Isn't eating that much starch actually bad for you? I mean, I love freaking potatoes, but I can't eat just potatoes. WTH? I actually limit how many I eat.

But no, just not drinking soda doesn't make you stop craving it, at least not for me, and just 1 little slip, one shirley temple while out at a restaraunt....and BAM it's got you. I don't drink any soda at all now, cause I fell off the soda wagon multiple times in the past. I'm diabetic so it's really bad for me, but even over pizza (which I freaking love) soda is massively addictive to me. I pretty much can't just drink 1 can and then be done.

Safeway used to have these (well probably still does, I just ignore them now) buy 2 get 3 deals that I couldn't resist. I'd be like, "oh, I'll just get soda incase someone comes over" or "Oh I'll just have a can every so often".

Yeah, no, that isn't what ever happened.
