They take you out back right then and there and put you in front of the firing squad. Frankly, the death penalty should be immediate or non-existent. If it's a blight on the sanctity of life that a murderer should go on living long after their victim, then the murderer should be put to death as soon as possible. Conversely, if it's barbaric to execute someone today, then it's barbaric to execute someone in a decade from now. Death row only makes sense as a means of milking tax payer money in keeping the condemned alive for as long as possible. "You took a life.
