I agree with the concept. I'd say there is maybe a better option though. Sure, keep the violent offenders in a boot camp setting.
I think taking the non-violent offenders and giving them something more productive to do. Like the occasional crews of fugitives you'll see picking up litter. Maybe, offer reduced sentences for certain jobs. Obviously some foreseeable issues, like government trying to maintain a certain population incarcerated for the work they're doing. And when you get the death penalty in China, it's the death penalty. Not waiting 90 years in prison while the appeals go through. They take you out back right then and there and put you in front of the firing squad. Frankly, the death penalty should be immediate or non-existent. If it's a blight on the sanctity of life that a murderer should go on living long after their victim, then the murderer should be put to death as soon as possible. Conversely, if it's barbaric to execute someone today, then it's barbaric to execute someone in a decade from now. Death row only makes sense as a means of milking tax payer money in keeping the condemned alive for as long as possible. "You took a life. The reason it takes so long is because of the appeals process, which pretty regularly results in death row inmates being exonerated. I think the death penalty should be abolished, but a quick one would be one that kills more innocent people. --- kin to all that throbs ... Copied to Clipboard!

I really hate how citizens are so pro-punishment, tbh. many of these laws are unjust and trivial.
it's one thing if somebody is a menace to society(murderer/rapist/sex trafficking, etc.), but the vast majority of inmates are not lol. just people who had an error of judgement, pissed off the wrong entity or violated a law that somebody with higher social/financial status would've get away with. for people who have a debt to repay to society... objectively they should be doing something that directly effects that very society. so why isn't community service the default punishment? some roads have had the same potholes since Bush Jr was in office. community service is more practical for the average "criminal." but laws are being passed all the time, and many of us are criminals by definition of the law. but I don't agree with the bootcamps idea. we need to reexamine our narrative about crime and punishment. --- Never let those intent on misunderstanding you be the narrator to YOUR story! Youre doing it wrong, TC. One word:
Thunderdome Why waste taxpayer money on criminals? Instead, take a property that no one is really using (for example, Detroit), push all the criminals there. Wall it off from the rest of the country and fortify it so no one can escape. Install live camera feeds all along the perimeter and in secret places inside Thundersome, so Americans can be entertained. After that, the criminals are on their own. They have to grow and harvest their own food, and anything goes in Thunderdome. If they actually organize and become a threat to national security, drop a mini tactical nuke on Thunderdome. --- ... Some US prisons have mandatory work camps. And there is a 'boot camp' system that fastracks some inmates out of prison. 50 Cent, for example, went through one of those when he was a young guy.
