I tend to lean towards a dry food diet. I've had cats all my life, raised dozens, domesticated ferals to shelter cats. Most of my cats were raised exclusively on dry food and were generally healthy. Over the last 5 years, I've switched to giving 50% wet diet and have notice that ,with the corresponding batch of cats, dental problems have become more present. While this is not evidence enough, it is something I'm keeping an eye on.
