Wet food is generally better, with some exceptions.

The exceptions being, if it's 10 for $1 dollar store garbage. Don't do that. Or if it has something your cat is allergic to, which you'd have to know beforehand, but if it did turn out they're allergic to something, probably don't feed them that again.

Otherwise, yes, it's far better than just dry food. For cats it matters more, due to them being hella carnivores, but for dogs (and cats) it's better for their teeth. You try chewing hard pieces of dry food with fangs, it's also easier to eat, but it also makes them not have to drink as much water, since they don't have to supplement the dry food with liquid.
