I was skeptical af about another dark edgy SW film after 2 and 3 but RO proved it can be done and can be great. And it didn't lose sight of its parent property in the midst of it. It still had the sarcastic droid, the "Mickey Mouse operation" feel, those nervous moments of panic when the plan starts unraveling and a lot of direct callbacks and homages that were overt enough to be noticed but recontextualized enough to not feel like a total ripoff. The cinematography was pretty great. Stuff like the scale shots on the Death Star were effective af.
