It's also a supernatural force that is fundamentally the evil counterpart of source. Once you've been subjected to Anti-Life, you become catatonic or commit suicide. Darkseid wants to alter the mathematical proof of Anti-Life so that instead of life being pointless it becomes the only purpose of life is to serve Darkseid.
