It's less that supporting strict immigration is inherently racist, and more that strict immigration tends to enable racism.

Basically, the act itself isn't necessarily bad, but it pushes a general ill view of the people it's set against that masses tend to adopt.

In almost every case it's way more trouble than it's worth as any perceived upside would be short lived and fixing the shitstorm that comes after would likely take decades.
