He has to hope for depressed Democratic turnout and win the coin flip states again which he did enough by fairly slim margins last time. I do think he's expanded his support in the steady Republican states or even the lean ones, such as Ohio or even Florida, but states like Nevada and Arizona have moved more and more steadily blue since he's taken office.
