I feel conflicted about his Wheel of Time work, though. I personally enjoyed it, and in fact I think he genuinely left the series better than he found it. But I'm not sure Jordan would have approved of everything he did, yet I know his estate selected Sanderson specifically because of the things he was going to do with the series, and this kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth going in all directions.
I don't think anyone was going to tie-up all the threads that Jordan had when he died, including Jordan. The scope creep was just too much. To that end, I think Sanderson did as good of a job as anyone could have done. I think there were a few characters he never quite got the voice on (Mat) and some plots he straight up forgot until the end (Padan Fain), but it worked out as good as it could.
