You got pretty much the BEST POSSIBLE type of monitor you could buy for gaming. Just ignore them, their advice is silly and based on advertising not real world application. If you play these people in online competitive matchs. You will literally have a advantage over them. Your performance and reaction times will over all be better than if you had the same set up as them. Oh and in case they chime in, what you are looking at will also look way better than what they see.
