Well, while Altered Beast is an older arcade-style title, the limited health, lives, no restorative items, and no continues meant that it took quite a few attempts just to master the early levels, let alone beat the game... although even then I kinda cheated by upping myself to 5 lives and 5 health and only barely beat the damn thing. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the game kinda restarts after you win. I don't remember being difficult, but I played it a lot back on the Mega Drive, despite hating the game.
