That number is fucking depressing since I bought maybe as many as 500 this year. So I need to find some stuff I can knock out from my backlog within a day. Maybe then I can have a decent number of beaten games this month.

https://backloggery.com/deltabladexnz

Fighting games are pretty obvious, but I probably have platformers or action games as well that don't require extensive playtime.

I mean, according to Backloggery, Delta's got over 2300 unfinished games. At only 19 a year, it would take him 121 years to beat them all, and that's presuming he never buys another game again (which, because it's Delta, is about as likely as Trump never tweeting angrily about something again) and also that Backloggery has all of his games on it (which I don't think it does, since I seem to remember his Steam library being over 5000). 19 seems like a large number, but it falls far short of what Delta will have to average if he wants to beat all of his games in a single lifetime.

Don't worry I bought a boatload of games (about $220 worth) from the Steam sale and I don't expect to play any of them until next year.

I am not even sure I have finished one game this year, and if I did, I don't remember it.

I didn't buy 500 though, but I have an insane backlog just the same.

I think I've finished 0 so far. Still haven't been able to beat Altered Beast, partly because the 3DS version doesn't have access to many of the cheats found in the other versions (and partly because the random transformation option tends to give me a bad transformation for at least one fight and, if I just went with the normal transformations, I'd be stuck trying to beat boss 4 with the were-tiger which is a lot harder)

At any rate, over Black Friday I picked up maybe 10 games (and one system), which is in addition to maybe another 15+ games I've bought at some point this year (or possibly another 30+, because I remembered I picked up a bunch for a bargain at a pawn shop).

My collection is entirely physical and I believe I still have a 1k+ backlog =x At 0-5 games per year, that shit is never getting done. tbh, I just barely skipped buying Mario Odyssey (partly since I wanted the $30 deal instead of the $40) which I partly decided because I still haven't touched SMG2 since buying it. And, in general, I think I should stop buying sequels to games where I own but haven't played the last entry.

You should really do that. It's a delightful game, as much as people like dumping on it because it's not that different from SMG. Personally, I was fine with that because the Galaxy concept still had plenty of opportunity for creative, enjoyable level designs in it, and I feel they did an excellent job tapping into that opportunity with the sequel.

That's about where I am too. I've considered both the new Fire Emblem and the new Luigi's Mansion, but I own and still haven't finished both previous games (I'm like 8 chapters in to FE14 Birthright, own but haven't touched Conquest, and haven't touched Dark Moon). I just can't justify buying a new game that's so much like one I already own and still have to play.

That said, Odyssey and Galaxy (either) are fairly different. Odyssey's a throwback to the SM64-style collectathon, whereas G2 continues G1's progression toward a purer 3D platforming experience (which culminates in SM3DL/W, which were basically just 3D NSMB games) with less emphasis on exploration. Personally, I would say that they're different (and excellent) enough to justify owning both without having beaten the other, but I get where you're coming from.

For the people who think 19 is still quite a lot, I've beaten 60 - 100 games a year previously. Part of this is my family, constant interruptions to do stuff for them makes progress difficult. (spoilered out the rant this turned into) Mum is losing both sight and mobility, so he needing help is fair. The rest are just lazy fucks that don't care about anyone else. If it wouldn't kill mum, I'd gladly move out. And I'm not even exaggerating there. One of my brothers didn't want to do himself a hot drink, expected mum to make it and bring it out to him. She hurt her hip dealing with the stairs out front.

Wish she would get rid of the fucking lazy freeloaders.

But yeah, shit all finished games this year, well below my usual number.

Almost done another one.

I bought maybe 5-10 games this year. A few of those were very cheap indie games that really can't be beaten.

Well, while Altered Beast is an older arcade-style title, the limited health, lives, no restorative items, and no continues meant that it took quite a few attempts just to master the early levels, let alone beat the game... although even then I kinda cheated by upping myself to 5 lives and 5 health and only barely beat the damn thing.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the game kinda restarts after you win.

I don't remember being difficult, but I played it a lot back on the Mega Drive, despite hating the game. The PS2 game was better. :P

I couldn't beat it back in the day and it took quite a few tries before I finally won. I think I've owned it for a bit over a week and had been playing it at least a little every day. It certainly felt a lot harder than a lot of other side-scrolling beat-em-ups, partly because you don't have healing items.

A lot of the other old school beat-em-ups didn't take me half as long to win when I've played them in recent years.

While I like the game's various elements, it's a pretty crappy game.
